Brilliant trip to Croatia

 

We had a fabulous journey on Adriatic Holiday with our family this summer. We were a party of 8, a combination of adults and children. We started in Dubrovnik and traveled to Split over a week stopping at different islands and blue water coves along the way. Captain Ante and his crew were top notch. The food was yummy and the wine flowed freely. We can’t wait to come back.

Wonderful holiday

My brother and our families, incl 6 teenagers, had a fabulous week with Ante, Antonio and Darko. We were looked after beautifully; the food was delicious, the cabins comfortable with the all-important en-suites each, the activities and water sports as you’d hope, endless options on where to stay and eat, should we want ashore, as well as the crew being fully sensitive to our wants and needs: they couldn’t do for enough for us, as well as being great company. Even the motoring speed was perfect! Thank you, Ante!

Phenomenal week with Ante and his crew…

 

We had an amazing week with Ante, Antonio and Darko this summer! This is the 4th time we have chartered in the Croatian Islands and this was by far our best experience. We were 2 families, ages 12 to 53, and the boat was perfect: spacious, well-appointed, safe and very comfortable. The crew are just nice, fun, responsible locals, who not only take great care and pride in providing “phenomenal customer service” but they also quickly became friends to us and our kids. Ante is very responsive and helpful in the preplanning, as we laid out a preferred itinerary well ahead of our journey, and then very communicative and flexible on a daily basis to assure we were able to see and do what we planned while also getting to know our style and thus making great new suggestions. Antonio is an AMAZING 5-star chef who impressed on a daily basis with the quality and presentation of his domestic Croatian meals. Darko was the best “first mate” we could have asked for: always ready to offer a nice glass of local wine, cold drink or a pillow for relaxing on the deck while the boat was cruising while playing friend and tour guide to all of our questions about the boat, region, etc. We have already recommended Adriatic Holiday to a few friends who are looking at a Croatia vacation and we will certainly look up Ante and his crew again when we make it back.

Our week aboard the Adriatic Holiday was sublime. it was everything I dreamt it would be. One of my travel companions exclaimed, “how do I keep waking up in a place that is more beautiful than the day before?” Every day was spent gliding along the serene hills and mountains and charming seaside towns. Our captain Ante’s first priority was our safety and he was completely worthy of our trust in him. Still, he kept a lighthearted and playful atmosphere, allowing for as much flexibility in our schedule as possible. He was incredibly accommodating. He gladly helped us set up transportation to and from the ship every time we needed it and helped us sort out reservations while we were in port. We had a great time chatting with Ante, hearing about his maritime adventures all over the world. I’d go for beers with again Ante anytime. The ship’s chef Antonijo (AKA the ship’s Happiness Officer) did not disappoint! He did his best to meet all of our dietary accommodations. The meals we ate aboard were more delicious than any we had in port. Plus, Antonijo is just fun. Darko is an incredibly hard working first mate. He is so attentive; he knew each of our voices and our breakfast coffee or tea would magically appear while we were still wiping the sleep from our eyes. He gave such attention to detail and wanted to take care of each of us as best he could. Darko is lovely and my time spent getting to know him far too short. I had no idea that Croatian wines were so good! Darko’s wine selections were fantastic – I think we tried more than 10 wines and every single one was as good as the fine wines I routinely enjoy at home. Additionally, each crew member was attentive to, patient, flexible, and helpful with the small child that was part of our group. As for the Adriatic Holiday herself: what a beautiful, well maintained, safe, and well equipped ship she is! The cabins are perfectly spacious with good storage space. The water pressure in shower in my cabin is better than what I have at home! All the towels and other linens we needed were in good supply. One of my travel companions is a 6’2″ (>1.8 meters) bear of a guy and even he found the ship to be comfortable in most aspects. I also want to mention that I managed to badly sprain my ankle 3 hours before we were scheduled to board the ship. For days I could barely put any weight on my foot. Ante, Antonijo, and Darko made every effort to help me get around every area of the ship and keep me well supplied with ice packs and beverages. I spent my days getting sun on the bow deck, watching the stunning scenery go by. It was the perfect place to be if one finds oneself largely immobilized while on vacation!!!

Captain Ante and his crew are experienced sailors dedicated to making your stay on board the most relaxed it can be. We were two families / nine guests and found there was plenty of space for us all in the five guest cabins, spacious saloon and three deck areas. The aft swimming platform was a great feature and in constant use.

Best things: the happy, helpful crew; the stunning Dalmatian coastline, with its warm bright blue waters; the quiet engine, so it rarely felt as though we were in a ship of that size (72ft); the quiet and beautiful moorings in bays only accessible from the sea; surprises like the secluded national parks, little stone towns like Korcula, the history and beauty of Dubrovnik old town; the dolphins swimming under our bow …

Possible improvements: catering was 4/5 not 5/5, but this is a small complaint and there are lots of great restaurants along the way for the odd night out.

We had an excellent week on Adriatic Holiday. The captain and crew were fantastic. On the way from Split to Dubrovnik we visited tranquil bays, beautiful ports and amazing medieval towns. Our more active children loved the water sports. We all loved the food, including fish caught by the chef from the boat.

We definitely want to come back a third time!!!!

Three years later, it was once again a dream to spend a week cruising the Croatian islands with Ante and his team. Ante knows all the super bays, beautiful little harbours and always ensures a safe stay. Antonio was a super cook, the pasta with seafood a dream. Ivan was always in a good mood and it was great with him. Luca had everything under control. Top top top! We definitely want to come back a third time!!!! Best Jan

” Simply the best “
We knew from the minute the Adriatic Holiday’s crew of three (Ante the captain, Antonijo the chef and wonderful do-it-all Luka) met us on the dock in Dubrovnik that it was going to be a fantastic trip. And we hadn’t even seen the gulet yet! They exuded warmth and friendliness, welcoming us aboard with family-made grappa and a choice of cherry or walnut liqueur. We settled into our very adequate cabins that had big portholes and newly renovated bathrooms. That first night we stayed in port waiting for more favorable weather the next day and that evening we experienced our first dinner aboard. The finest restaurant could not have produced a finer meal–and chef Antonijo is too tall to even stand up in the galley! We had opted for the seafood-heavy menu and it did not disappoint. It was fun watching Antonijo and Luka fishing knowing it was our dinner they were catching. There were just four of us aboard–all in our 70’s and 80’s–one with real mobility issues walking with a cane. The crew made sure we always had a hand to grasp when we needed it and helped us get in and out of the dinghy with no problem when we were anchored in a bay and needed to get to shore. Our only disappointment was that we motored most of the way, not getting under full sail–and that the 7-day trip was way too short! We loved every minute of it and, like all the other reviewers, are looking forward to doing it again.

“Perfect, beautiful, great fun family holiday”
Our family spent a week on the Adriatic Holiday first week of August this summer and it was totally fantastic – I think will go down as our best EVER family holiday. The boat is everything you could ever want and need on a boating holiday and the week was made by the brilliant crew. Captain Ante and his team were perfect; the route they helped us chose was beautiful (and the bays they found for lunch stops incredible), the food delicious, the activities and restaurants they suggested were excellent without exception and their ability to make us feel at home, welcome and relaxed onboard made the week what it was. They were wholly supportive of all the fun we had and we are so grateful for their efforts. We were 10 (aged between 60 and 22) and all had spacious, comfortable cabins with AMAZING showers and AC too. We couldn’t recommend the Adriatic Holiday more and hope so much to be able to spend another week onboard in the coming years. Thank you Ante, Antonijo, Luka and Ivan for looking after us so well, and for sharing your beautiful country with us!
